Becoming a member is simple for members of Doctors of BC. When signing up to become a member of the Doctors of BC or while renewing your Doctors of BC dues, simply tick the box to join the BCPA as well. The BCPA membership dues will automatically be added to the Doctors of BC dues.
To join the Doctors of BC or to renew your membership, please visit the Doctors of BC website at www.doctorsofbc.ca. If you are already a Doctors of BC member and would like to become a BCPA member before your Doctors of BC membership renewal, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The greater the number of BC psychiatrists who joint the BCPA, the better we’re able to advocate for positive change for our profession and our patients. Individual members also benefit from:
- Access to the members-only sections of the website
- Access to the BCPA Handbook
- The BCPA electronic newsletter
- Reduced registration fees for BCPA scientific meetings
- Ability to vote on issues that will shape the future of psychiatry in BC
- Invitation to participate in the AGM
- Opportunity to join the BCPA Executive
Currently, there are only two member types: Members and Members-In-Training. Members are generally practicing psychiatrists while Members-In-Training are either Psychiatry Residents at the University of British Columbia or Medical Students at the University of British Columbia. Both kinds of members may vote in elections and participate in the AGM. The Executive is composed primarily of Members, but Members-In-Training are represented on the Executive by two resident representatives elected by the UBC psychiatry residents. A medical student representative may be added to the Executive in the future.
Other membership types may be added as the Association evolves.
Please become a member or renew your membership when you join the Doctors of BC or renew your membership. If you are already a Doctors of BC member and would like to become a BCPA member before your membership renewal, please contact us at email@example.com.
